The Best Ecommerce Web Hosting for UK Businesses

Best Ecommerce Web Hosting

Now I am sure that if you are looking for ecommerce hosting, pretty much every list you come across contains the same names just possibly in a different order?

That is where my list is different, there are companies on this list that you probably won’t have seen on many, if any others! This is not because they are obscure hosting companies, they are all well established reputable companies.

It is just that I have spent many hours researching hosting companies for my ecommerce sites and knew there were more than the same few companies, so I went out and found them.

Some of these companies I have used myself for my own ecommerce sites and I have considered all of them at some point but you can only run a site on one web host at a time, which is why I haven’t used all of them.

The ones I haven’t used all come highly recommended by their customers. It is for this reason that I will be including any ratings that these companies have on Trustpilot and FaceBook.

Now before I get into the list, I do just want to say that I am an affiliate partner of some of the companies listed but this has not influenced their inclusion on this list. As an affiliate partner, if you click through and purchase a service from these companies, then I receive a small commission as a thank you. This helps me to keep this website running! With that out of the way, lets get started.

Krystal Hosting – From £3.99 a month

I do really have to start this list with my own web host, don’t I?

I ran an ecommerce store on the Krystal platform for nearly two years without any issue. The quality of not only the service but also the support has been great from day one when they migrated my WooCommerce site over from my old host. Krystal are also based here in the UK as well.

Their basic Amethyst package is ideal for anyone just starting their online store and the larger packages such as Ruby and Sapphire are great if you have an existing ecommerce store that you would like to move.

With every package you get the following features:

  • Unlimited bandwidth, email accounts and sub-domians
  • Free LetsEncrypt SSL certificate
  • CPanel
  • High performance LiteSpeed servers
  • 99.99% Uptime Guarantee
  • Weekly and Monthly Back-ups (Daily and Hourly on larger packages)

You also get access to their top quality support via the phone, live chat or support tickets. If you contact them out of hours, they will reply as soon as they can.

Guru Cloud Hosting – From £4.99 a month

The second hosting company on my list is Guru cloud hosting and they are a company I ran an ecommerce site with for a while, they are also based here in the UK.

I really liked working the Guru and their support was always top quality, right from the moment I signed up and migrated my ecommerce site over to them.

One of the big plus points with Guru is that they offer 100gb of SSD storage, even on their basic plan. If you have an ecommerce store with lots of images etc that take up a lot of storage space, then Guru would be worth considering.

Guru offer two entry level hosting packages which are their shared and shared boost packages and for an ecommerce store, the boost package is recommended but with either package you get:

  • 100gb SSD Storage
  • Unlimited Websites
  • Free SSL Certificate
  • Backups
  • High Performance LiteSpeed Servers
  • 100% Uptime

Included with every packages is access to Guru’s 24/7 UK support via phone, live chat and email.

Kualo Hosting – From £4.99 a month

Kualo are primarily known for their domain services (which are excellent by the way!) but they also offer a really good selection of hosting packages that can be used for ecommerce stores.

There basic plans start from £4.99 a month, your first month is discounted. These are ideal for new ecommerce stores that don’t need much in terms of storage space and 10gb of storage is plenty for a new site.

If you are looking to move an existing ecommerce site, then their business hosting packages may be more appealing to you as they offer more storage space and more resources for better performance.

With all of the Kualo hosting plans, you get the following:

  • Free SSL Certificate
  • 30 Day Account Backups
  • Free Daily Snapshot backups
  • 99.9% Uptime Guarantee
  • Cloudfare CDN
  • Unlimited Data Transfer

You also get 24/7 UK support in the form of phone and live chat support. I have always had good experiences when it comes to support and they are definitely worth checking out for domain names as well.

SiteGround – From £2.95 a month

Siteground Web Hosting

No Reviews

There is a reason why SiteGround appears on pretty much every list!

They are loved by their customers as is evidenced by their average trustpilot score from over 3,500 reviews, that is pretty impressive.

One thing I do want to point out about SiteGround is their pricing, the prices advertised on their site are introductory prices for the first year. Once this year has passed, you will go up to their normal rate which starts from £8.95 a month. This catches a lot of people out and why I have mentioned it here.

While SiteGround can be used for lightweight ecommerce applications such as Opencart and Prestashop, their hosting is optimised for WordPress and WooCommerce websites. This is why they are recommended by both WordPress and WooCommerce.

With every SiteGround plan you get the following:

  • Unlimited Data Transfer
  • SSD Storage
  • Cloudfare CDN
  • Daily Backups
  • Free SSL Certificate
  • 24/7 Support via Phone, Live Chat and Support Tickets

Conclusion

So there you have it, my list of what I think are the best hosting companies for UK businesses. I know that there is a lot of information to digest and lots of options to choose from.

I can’t say that one is the overall best as they are all really good options. The beauty of web hosting is that if you don’t like the host you are with or have chosen, you can always change to another one!
